The earliest tournament winning standard deck I&#8217;ve been able to find was Vice Age, from U.S. Nationals 1995.<\/p>\n<p>Most of the decks I use for Ultimate Standard come from spring or summer, when the card pool usually is largest, and presumably most well-honed. Standard decks built from only 5 legal sets usually are weaker than decks built from 8 legal sets. But there are exceptions. To see which sets were legal when, and which decks were winning at those times, see the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Timeline_of_Magic:_the_Gathering_Standard_(Type_II)\">timeline of standard on wikipedia<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Most decklists were found from WOTC&#8217;s event coverage archives.
